Double Chin Liposuction
Liposuction of Gill
Some people are frustrated by what is commonly known as a Double Chin. There are some common features that contribute to the appearance of the double chin. Patients usually have a combination of the following characteristics:
- Laxity of the platysma muscle
- Excess fat
- Small chin
An incision is made just below the chin, where it is easy to conceal. The skin of the neck rises to expose the underlying fat.
If there is excess fat, it is removed, either directly or with liposuction. Double Chin liposuction is a surgery that is indicated for young patients, who have elastic and tight skin and want to decrease the fat that is under the chin.
Double Chin liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis and is usually performed under local anesthesia. It is a very simple plastic surgery, which will allow you to return to your usual routine after 3 or 4 days.
Recovery:
If the patient is not young and has a loose platysma muscle, it is tense with stitches. This allows important structural support for the neck to obtain a defined neck angle. If the patient’s chin is small, a Chin Implant is used to create a more prominent chin. The incisions are closed with absorbable sutures. A compression sling is then placed and used for several weeks after surgery.
